"Mindfulness" is quite the buzz-word these days. At its roots, mindfulness means having an awareness of the present moment and meeting your experiences with compassion and non-judgement. Mindfulness gives you the opportunity to create a pause between your life experiences and your "automatic pilot" reactions. From this place, you can make choices that can better serve you in your life journey toward balance and happiness.

Mindfulness also involves the practice of meditation, or focused awareness using the breath at its core. Repeated studies using mindfulness meditation continually show positive effects on health, mood, productivity, attention and overall sense of well-being. With practice, you become confident that you can handle all that life brings you . . . one moment at a time . . .

MBSR or Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is an eight-week, instructor-facilitated, group program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in the 1970's. Throughout the classes, participants are educated on topics such as: stress and the body, present moment awareness and mindfulness. The group is guided in breathing techniques, mindful movement, meditations and mindful communication skills. MBSR has been studied for many years with varying populations and proves beneficial to your physical, mental and emotional health and allows you greater freedom and joy overall.
